Motor Selection Guide
Technical Information for Motor-Gearbox Combinations, ②, Motor Selection Guide
Power supply, control option, operation environment, no core, iron core and brushless factors need to be considered during the optimal selection of the motors. The following information need to be provided if the client require our company to choose the best motors.
- Range of voltage, rectified power supply or battery, any limitation of current flow.
- Need of PWM control, voltage fluctuation control, etc
- Need of encoder
- Running conditions (continuous, intermittent, forward/reverse, drive time, lock, short brake)
- Environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, etc)
- Dimensional restrictions including the gearbox and encoder
Below is an example of how to choose a motor and a gear motor, according to customers' requirement(s)
Supply voltage U=12 V
Rated speed NT=100 rpm,
Rated torque TN=5000 g.cm
Gear ratio 100:1,
5 stage transmission efficiency of spur gearbox is 62.4%
Gear motor rated output power= NT × TN×/95500=100×5000/95500=5.23W
Rated output power of motor= rated output power of gear motor/transmission efficiency of gearbox
